I recently got the chance to access this old power plant with my friends Jacques and Chris. After the German reunification, the place was decommissioned due to its strongly negative environmental impact. Although it has been abandoned for many years now, it still has a most imposant industrial feeling to it, including one of the largest halls that I’ve ever seen, where twelve turbines capable of generating 36MW each were hosted.
Plenty of photographic subjects could be found in every corner and hallway. The image above shows an old power cable foregrounding one of the large coal mills which would feed the boilers. The claw like shape caught my attention as i was passing by it so stopping to photograph it was a must.
Further photos can be seen in the power plant album.
