The Red Room

This shot was taken during my last visit to a former russian military base.  Given the extreme contrast in this scene, with a pitch black interior illuminated by very harsh light coming from the small windows, the choice for an HDR was almost immediate. Taken with the canon 14mm f2.8 L II to better convey the size of the room.

This building was originally conceived to be used as a gym and many of the athletes that trained here would compete in the Olympic Games of 1936. After the occupation by the USSR troops, it was converted into a theater, complete with a representative entrance, ticket counters and cloak room. The photo shows the reception room, where guest would gather to socialize before the main events.
The building houses two theaters, a large one with an area of 600m2 and a smaller one with an area of 400m2.
