I’ve recently seen the images that my friends Jacques Gudé and Chris Robbins processed from a joint photo walk in a former DDR powerplant, and I got inspired to process an image of my own that I took there while sharing that amazing shooting opportunity with them. Make sure not to miss their images “Did you order the Code Red?” and “Volkerode: East Berlin UrbEx” respectively, to see some great photography and get a better feeling of how the powerplant looks like.
The image that you see above is what seems to be one of the largest hooks I’ve ever came across. The scale of it just seems plain huge.
However, this image is just an optical illusion. The hook itself is probably not much more than 1m long, but the angle and the use of a 14mm lens to exaggerate the perspective really add some extra depth to it.
