Across the River
A night view of the Governmental District in Berlin. HDR long exposure using a 24mm tilt shift lens to make a panorama. There was almost no wind on that night so the water had no ripples on the surface, which made it into an almost perfect mirror. The building itself is the iconic Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus designed by Stephan Braunfels. The bridge that can be seen on the left crosses the river Spree in the direction West-East and symbolizes the unity of West and East Germany, a clear contrast to the plans of Nationalsocialists who attempted to plan the Capital based on a North-South axis — the infamous “Germania”.
